This morning, Pae sent me the following photo, a picture of a document she got in her work mailbox. She was expecting some paperwork letting her know if she would be allowed to fly to Bangkok or not as extra crew on her days off (meaning a free ticket). She got her Extra Crew request and this document as well.
It is a letter from the higher-ups notifying her that she had been nominated for Flight Attendant of the Month for the month of August! She was very surprised especially since she is relatively new and only been flying for a little over a month. Apparently she made a great impression on Royal Jordanian. The letter carries the subject line: "Appreciation" and that's exactly what it feels like...I know what it is like to work hard and not even get a pat on the back or a thank you or any type of "good work" gesture from the bosses. This letter is clearly showing Royal Jordanian's appreciation for Pae's "Professionalism, Customer Service and accountability" as they state in the notification. Pae feels appreciated!
She wasn't selected as the final "winner" but being nominated is being recognized just as much! I'm very happy for Pae and proud of her. Her hard work, sweet personality and long suffering (sometimes) has been recognized...Sometimes the smiles or the applause from the passengers is recognition and reward for such hard work and professionalism...but it also feels good to get it from your employer. Funny that they use the word "unfortunately" when they say that she wasn't the final winner...because just this letter and all the work leading up to her being recognized for her flight attendanting gives Pae a positive energy and a deeper sense of pride and acknowledgement, and makes it that much easier to get up and put the uniform on every day. I know she's shy about announcing things like this, but I think it's important and I'm happy and I'm proud of her!!
Congratulations baby! You asked me if I was surprised...Not surprised that you are awesome, but pleasantly surprised that you, out of hundreds of RJ cabin crew, were on of the few nominated for Flight Attendant of the Month! Good work! I love you!!
