Okay, so I missed Friday Foto last week due to illness or laziness or because of the rain and lack of taxis going to school...your pick. This week's picture comes to you from the small Thai island of Ko Samet, on the east side of the Gulf of Thailand.
Ko Samet is a tiny island accessible by ferry. Samet offers some decent beaches and a rather dense, rocky jungle.
Today's "Foto" is of Pae and I at the end of Hat Sai Gaew beach (Diamond beach) sitting next to a statue of two characters from Thai poetry/folklore. One of late poet Sunthorn Phu's main characters is Phra Aphai Manee, who escaped from an ogress with the help of a beautiful mermaid. They married and, although I haven't read the whole poem, I'm sure they lived happily ever after! The prince and the mermaid are pictured here.
